About the authors: Mairéad Nic Craith and Ullrich Kockel are scholars in the Institute for Northern Studies, University of the Highlands and Islands, Kirkwall, UK. Dr Nic Craith is Professor of Public Folklore, Dr Kockel is Professor of Creative Ethnology. Amanda Carmody is a niece and friend of John Moriarty, as well as joint editor of a forthcoming collection of his writing, John Moriarty, Grounded in Story. Amanda is Chairperson of the John Moriarty Institute. Mary McGillicuddy, author of a biography of Moriarty titled Not the Whole Story, regularly offers seminars and reading groups to the public on the ideas and challenges in John Moriarty’s writing. Mary currently serves as company secretary to the John Moriarty Institute and jointly edited the forthcoming John Moriarty, Grounded in Story.
